Nice. But I am now thinking 'pipe cleaner'… The blue of the background is fantastic.

Beautiful picture. The colours are gorgeous. I wonder how the white explorers felt when they saw black swans for the first time. Must have been a bit of a surprise! 🙂

Ha! I didn't think of that. I think what stands out about this particular swan is he hasn't got a number around his neck like most do at Albert Park Lake. Those broad bands with numbers kind of spoil most swan pictures there.

Yes, I liked the blue as well, which makes a nice contrast to a bright red beak!

Thanks! I think it was late in the day, so the lower light brought out the colours a bit with less glare around. I'm not sure? Such an ungainly bird when walking around. So much more suited to flying and paddling!

You need to get a photo of the swan at the Grand Prix, I am sure its expression would be completely different. The first thing that strikes me about the photo is that red beak. Very impressive colours, love it.

I've been to the Grand Prix before and I did check out the birds. They do tend to be less noticeable! There are a couple of small islands in the lake, so I assume a lot would go there. I'm not sure of the long term health of them when 100,000 people descend on the area with accompanying screaming engines. Mm…

Yeah, the red beak is what makes the photo for me as well. Strong contrast against the darker colours.
